History
Simple=Select+SearchA hobbyist project that turned out to be useful.
This extension began as a personal project born from the inconvenience of using a keyboard to browse the internet from my couch.
In 2011, I connected my desktop PC to a large TV and navigated with a wireless mouse. The cumbersome process involved right-clicking to copy text, opening a new tab, and then pasting the text to search.
I thought there must be an extension to enable searching directly via right-click, but I couldn’t find one I liked, so I decided to create one.
Apparently, I was not the only one in need of this. Today, more than 31,000 unique users utilize it every month, so yeah. :)
This is a free product, and I don't spend as much time as I should about it, but I still want to improve it. It looks like there's a never-ending list of improvements.
In 2020, I added the extension to the Microsoft Edge store.
In 2024, I went through the painful process (for me and the users!!) of migrating the extension to Manifest V3, forced by Chrome. As a byproduct of this change, I also ported the extension to Firefox.
I maintained a blog about the extension's development journey. Visit it for historical insights.
